Paperback ↠ Benice PDF/EPUB Ê benice kindle, Benice eBookJoel R Dennstedt for Readers' FavoriteThe wonderful anticipation for any reader of Young Adult Fiction but an equally difficult challenge for its author is the always exciting and expectant notion of One Great Story The implication being The writer had better be a good storyteller In just such a book Benice by Metin Karayaka one gets two bangs for his expectant buck One great story and many wonderful illustrations by Rohan Daniel Eason Both the story and the illustrations are reminiscent of their classic predecessors such as Robert Luis Stevenson’s Kidnapped – but without the baggage for some of a now considered antiquated style A mysterious old fisherman an impressionable young boy the suggestion of pirates in the wings These are the eleme

Paperback ↠ Benice PDF/EPUB Ê benice kindle, Benice eBookA cute little story about love and friendship and also about judging based on appearances I read it in two sittings and only because I had a schedule to keep But as soon as I was able I got back to it and finished it I enjoyed the story throughout although I wasn't entirely clear on everything that happened in the end The lessons on friendship and treating others with kindness may come off as a bit heavy handedsilly for some people but it's a very positive book and we probably need of those At the end I thought I might be missing something but it didn't really take away from the rest of the story I enjoyed the illustrations and thought they really added to the story The characters are likeable and there's enough pirate adventure to keep the action moving throughout It feels a little bit like a cross between Tre

Paperback ↠ Benice PDF/EPUB Ê benice kindle, Benice eBookI think it's a particular young person who would really love this book There's some awkwardness to the writing style I kept asking myself whether it was translated and a bit of silliness and old fashioned sensibility that might not gel with current kids though the fast pace and multiple points of view do keep things interesting The moral of the story ending felt somewhat trite and the relationships didn't feel overly deep The illustrations do make it stand out though Perhaps for fans of other stylisticatmospheric authors such as Colin Meloy and Catherynne M Valente for some reason The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place and The Mysterious Benedict Society are also springing to mind but I think it might just be that the art style is reminiscent Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC

Paperback ↠ Benice PDF/EPUB Ê benice kindle, Benice eBookSwashbuckling and silly I loved this book It is a great young reader tale with a sort of foolish magical quality Or rather expect to suspend disbelief The text is really good with nice pacing and appealing turns of phrase but the illustrations are wonderful I finished this book quickly and am now planning to get the book for the young readers in my life Thanks to NetGalley for the free copy for an honest review

    9. Wendy Wendy says:

Paperback ↠ Benice PDF/EPUB Ê benice kindle, Benice eBookKarayaka weaves an original story and high stakes in this action packed story filled with twists and turns No situation or character are as they first appear and this keeps the reader guessing throughout Friendship love sacrifice and loyalty are key themesI was a bit put off though by a seeming lack of consequences for heroic characters who do bad things for the sake of a positive outcome In other words the message that kids may walk away with is that the ends justify the means Also the ending was less than satisfying I understand that the author was probably trying to leave a few things up in the air in case there is a sequel but I was genuinely confused for the last three or four pages All in all a quick and easy summer read I recommend reading aloud especially to young children to be able to take the opportunity to discuss the sometimes shady actions of the book's heroes I wrote this review in exchan
